Course Description |
This course is a full year course consisting of two semesters of instruction.
Semester one Geometry A
The course is given in six units. There is a test at the end of each unit and one to three
quizzes per unit
Geometry A
Unit 1 Basics of Geometry
Unit 2 Reasoning and Proof
Unit 3 Perpendicular and Parallel Lines
Unit 4 Congruent Triangles
Unit 5 Proof of Congruent Triangles
Unit 6 Properties of Triangles
Required Material |
1. Geometry, McDougal and Littell.
2. Pencils and Erasers
3. Math Notebook
Homework Policy |
1. Homework is assigned daily.
2. Homework is due at the beginning of each class period.
3. Homework turned in late will receive half credit, unless it follows an absence.
4. Only Homework done neatly in pencil will be accepted. Divide a page of note paper (8 1/2 by 11), in half.
5. Write the problem number first, next to the problem number copy the problem. Problems are to be worked down the left side of the divided page and then followed down the right side of the folded page.
6. Under the problem work must be shown and the answer must be highlighted or boxed.
Grading Policy |
1. Tests and Quizzes count for 90% of the grade. Homework and class participation count 10%.
2. The Final grade is based on the following table:
A 90
B 80
C 70
D 60
F Below 60%
Course Completion |
1. When a student passes Geometry A with a passing grade they will advance the next semester to Geometry B and receive five credits for graduation.
2. If they do not pass they will be required to take Geometry A again.

Unit 11 Area of Polygons and Circles
Unit 12 Surface Area and Volume
Required Material, Homework Policy and Grading remains the same for Geometry B
Course Completion |
With a passing grade the student will advance to Algebra II and receive the second
five graduation credits for a total of ten for Geometry.
If the student doesnt pass they will be required to take Geometry "B" again.
