Enhancing Education Through Technology-Formula
Description
This program provides FY 2003-04 formula-funded grants to assist
districts in improving student achievement through the use of technology in
elementary schools and secondary schools. The grant will provide funds for
ongoing, sustained, and intensive, high-quality professional development to
integrate advanced technologies into curricula and instruction. Note: This is
not an entitlement or apportionment. Applicants must submit their technology
plan online for approval at
www.cde.ca.gov/edtech/eett/rfainfo.htm to receive their award. PPS
receiving awards in 2004-05 do not have to reapply unless their technology plans
expire in 2004-05. Grant award documents will be mailed within a month.

Comprehensive School Reform Program
Description
The Comprehensive School Reform (CSR) Program is a federal
program that provides schools and their districts the opportunity to implement
school wide research-based reform strategies designed to increase student
learning and academic achievement. Participating CSR schools are part of a
nationwide research based effort, with an emphasis on basic academics and
parental involvement. The program is linked to the State Board of Education's
content standards in reading/language arts and mathematics and other SBE-adopted
content standards.

21st Century Community Learning Centers
Description
California's 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC)
Program provides funding for after school or before and after school programs
that serve disadvantaged K-12 students. Programs must include academic
assistance and educational enrichment components and must address family
literacy needs of adult family members. The California Department of Education
must restrict grant awards to only those applications that serve students who
attend: 1) schools eligible for Title I school wide programs, or 2) schools that
serve a high percentage of students from low-income families. Limited additional
funding is available for direct grants to address Access and Family Literacy
needs. Applicants may include local education agencies (LEA), community-based
organizations, cities, counties, public or private entities (including
faith-based organizations or private schools), or a consortium of two or more
such organizations.

Allocation
Formula Information
Core funding is a reimbursable amount based on $5.00/day/student
for after school programs to a maximum of $75,000 for elementary and $100,000
for middle/junior high school programs. Large school adjustments are available
for elementary schools with enrollment over 600 and middle/junior highs with
enrollment over 900. Before school funding is reimbursed at up to
$3.33/day/student. Supplemental funding (summer, intercession, etc.) is
available at up to 30% of base grants for before and after school. Access and
Family Literacy direct grants are available on a limited and competitive basis
for applicants that are awarded core funding to serve elementary/middle school
students. High school grants are direct grants for $50,000-$250,000.
